I discovered Mariana Murabito's radiant, handwoven wall hangings and bracelets at a holiday pop up shop at one of my favorite stores in Mallorca, Open79. While working as a graphic designer she began exploring embroidery and weaving techniques, soon developing this creative passion into a side business. Her tightly woven wall hangings have a painterly quality about them, the colors and textures of the threads making graphic patterns that evoke the beauty of the Majorcan landscape. Soft pastels are intertwined with shimmering golds, muted tones are offset by streaks of neon pinks and yellows. I am definitely keeping my eyes out for more of her work.
