Doug JohnstonDoug Johnston's work spans art, design, architecture and music, utilizing and exploring a variety of mediums and methods including installation, sculpture, photography, performance and video. Most recently he has been exploring the transformation of everyday linear materials and fibers into three dimensional forms and structures via low-tech methods. His work typically seeks out the human element in design and production, allowing for improvisation, humor and surprise.
Doug Johnston studied art and architecture at Drury University and received a Master of Architecture degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work has been presented in exhibitions around the United States as well as in online journals. He has served as a guest critic and lecturer at various universities and has worked professionally as an architectural designer, professor of design, photographer, and metal fabricator. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
