Who is behind The Vitrine?

Owner + Founder-Blaire Dessent: I always wanted to have my own store. I can say that with certainty because I recently found a fraying poster saved from my kindergarten class in which we wrote our favorite things, hopes and dreams, and my response to the question: What do you want to be when you grow up was: “A storelady.” Born in sunny San Diego, to parents who have a love of collecting, particularly folk and craft arts, which likely started my interest in he visual arts, I then moved to New York City, where I worked ten years in contemporary art. Living between Paris and the United States since 2008, the time felt ripe for a change and I wanted to open my own store. But where? And thus, the www.thevitrine.com was born. I imagine a real Vitrine storefront someday but for now I like the idea of the online community and developing pop-up shops and in-store collaborations with boutiques in other cities.
